In recent years, we have seen many changes in the industry. Technology has advanced and we now see a lot of AI and machine learning in the customer service area. Virtual reality technology has also revolutionized the way that many hospitality companies market their services and products. Global events also influence trends in the hospitality industry. Companies had to be more concerned about safety and health after the COVID-19 Pandemic. Other global events such as climate change and sustainability have prompted companies to think more locally about the needs of their local market.
Sustainability
The hospitality industry is witnessing a number of sustainability trends. For example, hotels are focusing on reducing food waste and water consumption. Some hotels have put in electric vehicle charging station, installed efficient HVAC systems and even green roofs that include solar panels. Some are also upgrading their lighting systems and switching over to LED lightbulbs. Restaurants have begun to install air-cooled, ice machines.
Local dishes are being served by hotels as well. Many hotels are now offering vegetarian and vegan options. Other innovative concepts include Airbnb and farmhouse accommodation, which give guests a more authentic experience. Travel agents also offer services that allow guests to plan local activities and enjoy local cuisine. While many hospitality companies used to serve sugary drinks and fast food, many now offer healthy options.

IoT technology
Hoteliers can use IoT to track inventory and manage assets in real time. They can also make personalized guest experiences with this technology. Trackers connected to the internet can be used by staff to locate equipment quickly and reduce wait times. Smart equipment can also monitor inventory and notify staff when items have left the guest's rooms.
IoT can help hoteliers provide better guest experiences, reduce energy consumption, increase customer satisfaction, and offer more efficient services. These technologies are also able to help hoteliers cut down on operating expenses and create new revenue streams. Although the hospitality industry is still behind other industries in the adoption and use of new technologies, it is growing.
Keyless entry
While it may be convenient for guests, keyless entry technology in hotels can also be costly. Due to the expense of retrofitting large numbers of doors, hotels might not be willing to install these systems. Starwood Hotels & Resorts or Hilton Worldwide may have to upgrade the hotel. However, both Starwood Hotels & Resorts (or an independent owner) have said they will pay a portion to install keyless entry. Both companies intend to provide the technology to their guests by year's end.
Keyless entry allows guests to book directly and can even lead to re-bookings and direct bookings. This technology is being explored by many hotel brands to encourage more direct bookings.

IoT-enabled Rooms
IoT-enabled hotel rooms offer many benefits in the hospitality industry. They can be used to automate front desk management and provide smarter room service. Hoteliers can use the Internet of Things to track guests' movements, luggage and cleaning carts. This information allows hotel managers to better manage their inventory. IoT rooms that are connected to the internet can be customized by hotel guests. A virtual assistant can be asked to adjust the temperature and wake guests up at a specific time.
Using IoT-enabled rooms in hotels can improve guest satisfaction by making the stay as smooth as possible. Guest can set their preferences through an app that will allow the room to activate them automatically. Smart devices in the room detect movement and occupancy to turn off certain appliances when guests are gone.
FAQ
What are consumer trends in 2018?
Consumer trends are becoming more important than ever as they have a direct impact on our daily lives. They also shape the future of business and commerce.
Today's world is rapidly changing. We live in an age where technology advances at an alarming rate. Our lives are becoming increasingly connected and mobile. We are experiencing unprecedented levels and changes.
This means that people who are able to adapt quickly will do well in the long term. Staying ahead of the curve is what will make you successful.
We are now confronted with choices that were not even possible a few years back. This opens up huge opportunities for both brands and businesses. But it also brings challenges.
Online shopping and eCommerce are growing because of the huge demand for convenience. Consumers want choices and options. Consumers want to be able find what they're looking for, when and where they want it.
They want to be able to purchase products and services that make sense for them. They want to be in a position to easily compare prices, read customer reviews, and share information.
These changes are coming quickly and it's easy to get behind. It is important to keep up with all the latest developments and develop strategies that will help you stay competitive.
To succeed in this environment, you need to focus on two key areas: innovation and customer experience. These are the keys to staying ahead.
It's not enough just to sell great products or provide outstanding service. Innovation is key. And you must deliver exceptional customer service.
The term "customer obsession" is something you may have heard. This refers to the belief that you will surpass your customers' expectations if it is true love for them.
Your customers expect nothing less than the best service. Many businesses don't realize this. They instead assume they should treat customers the same way as any other client.
They market their products by focusing on the price and features of their products.
But customers aren’t buying new products or services. They choose between several alternatives.
Instead of competing on price alone, focus on creating unique value propositions. This is what will make you stand out from your competitors.
And this isn't about making something better. It's about offering something completely different.
How can you do that? Innovating!
By being creative!
Try thinking outside the box
And, most importantly, to provide top-quality customer services.
What do teenagers purchase the most?
There is a lot of data about consumer trends. But none of this data can be used to make any decisions. So we had a look at the data ourselves. We wanted to find out which products and services teens bought. We then looked at the changes in these purchases over time.
Even we were amazed by the results. We were surprised to see that teens are fairly frugal when it came to shopping habits. They spend far more on clothes than any other type of person, aside from books. They also spend more money on technology than any other age.
Teens also spend a lot on tablets, smartphones, and computers. These devices were purchased by almost 2 billion dollars last year by 13-17-year-olds.
However, what is most striking is the fact that while they spend a lot for electronics, they don't spend as much on their smartphones. Apps account for less than 1 percent of teenage smartphone usage.
This means that most of them use smartphones to surf the internet. They are using Snapchat and Facebook. They are avid gamers on Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo.
In other words, they use their phone to chat with friends, play music and watch videos.
Now that's an interesting trend because it suggests that teens are increasingly relying on their mobiles, which makes sense given that they spend more time online.
They also spend more time viewing TV. Teens are now spending more time on TV per week than any other age group, except for children between the ages of 5 and 9.
There are many reasons people turn to television. One reason is that it's easy to control. They tend to stick with traditional media, despite having access to many digital options.
Another reason is that it offers them more variety. Kids love to switch channels, so they'll often pick up whatever's on instead of sticking with one channel.
It's simply fun. Teenagers love being allowed to interact with characters in the screen, whether it be talking to their favorite celebrities, or exploring new worlds that allow them to become heroes.
They're unhappy with the content they're watching, despite all this. Common Sense Media found that 90% of parents would prefer their children to watch less TV if they could see better programs. Two-thirds would prefer their kids to play videogames than watch TV, according to Common Sense Media.
This shouldn't be surprising. We know from experience that children who watch more TV are more likely than others to become obese. Harvard University recently conducted research that supports these findings.
It was found that every additional hour of TV watching per day was associated to a 2.5-point rise in the BMI among children between 6 and 11.
We should start to think about ways that we can help our kids move away from the screen. It might be time to make sure our kids have healthier snacks, and more drinks.
We could encourage them to get active and play sports. Recent statistics show that physical activity levels across all age groups are on the decline. So we must do something about that.
The good news? There are many things you can do to improve youth health. Look at the evidence.
What's Gen Z looking forward to in 2022
Whoever prepares for the future will have a better chance of success. This means knowing where we are and how we can get there. This requires us to look back more often and see the trends shaping our world today.
It means also looking forward, thinking beyond tomorrow and anticipating the emerging technologies, innovations, and changes that will affect our lives and work.
Because of this, we are here for each other to learn, share information, and help solve each others' problems. Because our future depends on us. We must ensure that the future is bright.
This requires us to look back at the past and project the future. To do that, we need data. Lots of it. This data tells us what young people are most interested in now and in five years.
Data that shows their motivations and what frustrates. Data that helps us see what is important to them.
Will virtual experiences continue to grow post-pandemic?
The world we live in today is already more connected than at any other time in history. We communicate quicker, share information, collaborate across borders.
As technology evolves, so will our interactions with one another and with the environment.
This evolution is headed to the next frontier with virtual reality (VR). Virtual worlds are changing the way that we do business, learn from, play and explore.
VR may sound like a great idea for consumers, but it has concerns about potential abuse by vulnerable users.
Experts warn VR headsets could be another tool used by cybercriminals for luring unsuspecting victims to phishing attacks and scams.
It is important to read the terms and conditions of service and privacy policies before you purchase a headset.
You should also make sure that you have chosen a reputable company.
Make sure you read reviews online and ask friends and family members what they think. If someone is trying to sell you a product, chances are they'll say it's great. So look for independent websites that give detailed reviews.
Many companies now include terms of service and privacy policies inside their packaging. It is easy to locate and review them.
If you aren't satisfied with your purchase, contact the retailer right away.

How To
Where Are Most Travelers Heading in Summer 2023 (and Why)?
We expect that summer 2023 will see more travelers travel to destinations with lower prices than last year. However, there are also some surprises.
Egypt is the most visited destination in summer 2023, with tourism booming. Its rich cultural heritage and beautiful scenery are likely to explain this popularity.
Another striking trend is that more Europeans are moving to other parts of the world. While Europeans head to Asia, North America, Australia and other parts of the world, Americans opt for Canada and Mexico. These two countries are great for their natural beauty and value.
But it's not all bad news. The world's most expensive places are not surprising. They will likely remain the same.
Although tourists tend to spend more in these areas on average each day, there are still fewer vacationers overall.
In summer 2023, we predict that the number of tourists from abroad visiting Switzerland will be below 50,000,000. Partly, this is due to recent terror attacks that made it feel unsafe.
This is a huge change in comparison to the past ten. According to estimates, Switzerland received 150 million international tourists in 2003.
Despite the fact that the Swiss government has been trying to reverse this trend for some time, it is unlikely that the country will recover unless there are significant changes.
For example, they might encourage foreign workers instead of taking away jobs from residents.
They could also raise taxes on luxury goods, such as private jets and yachts.
They could also lower the prices to make it more affordable for people to travel to Switzerland.
There are many options to improve the situation.
