FAQ

What is Gen Z most interested in in 2022?

The future belongs to those who prepare for it. Understanding where we're going and how to get there is essential. This requires us to look back more often and see the trends shaping our world today.

It also involves looking ahead and anticipating new technologies and innovations that will transform our lives and work.

We are here to share our knowledge and solve each other's problems. Because the future depends on us. We must ensure that the future is bright.

To do that, we need to look at the past and anticipate the future. Data is necessary to accomplish this. Lots of it. Data that shows what young people want to know now and in five year's time.

Data that helps us understand what motivates and frustrates our customers. Data that helps us understand what's important to them and what isn't.

What do teens buy most?

There's a lot of data on consumer trends, but none is actionable for us. We took a look at all the data. We wanted to see which products and services were purchased by teens. Then we looked at how those purchases changed over time.

Even us were shocked by the results. Turns out, when it comes to shopping habits, teens are pretty frugal. They spend more on clothing than any other group apart from books. However, when it comes technology, they spend far more than any other age.

Teens also spend a lot on tablets, smartphones, and computers. The devices were bought by nearly $2 billion in total by children aged 13-17 last year.

But what stands out is that while they might be spending a lot on electronics, they aren't spending much on apps. The app market makes up less than one percent of all teen smartphone use.

That means most of them are using smartphones to browse the web. They are using Snapchat and Facebook. They play on Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo and other gaming platforms.

In other words, they use their phone to chat with friends, play music and watch videos.

This is a fascinating trend. It suggests teens are more dependent on their phones, which is understandable considering they spend more time online.

They also spend more time viewing TV. The average teenager spends more time watching TV per week than any other age except children aged 5 to 9.

There are lots of reasons why they're turning to TV. One of them is that it's easier to control. Even though they've access to various digital options, they tend to stick to traditional media.

Another reason is that it offers them more variety. Kids love to switch channels, so they'll often pick up whatever's on instead of sticking with one channel.

It's simply fun. Teenagers love being able interact with characters onscreen, whether they're talking to their favourite celebrities or exploring new worlds where heroes can be found.

Despite all of this, they are unhappy with the quality content they see. Common Sense Media surveyed parents and found 90% said they would prefer that their kids watched less TV if it meant watching better shows. Two-thirds of parents prefer their children to play video games rather than watch television.

This shouldn't be surprising. After all, we know that kids who spend more time watching TV are more likely to be obese. Harvard University's new research supports this conclusion.

It found that for children aged 6 to 11, each hour more TV was associated with 2.5 points higher BMI.

Maybe it's high time that we start thinking about ways to get our kids off of screens. Perhaps we should make sure that they have healthy snacks and beverages available.

Perhaps we should encourage them instead to engage in sports. Recent statistics show that physical activity levels across all age groups are on the decline. So we must do something about that.

Good news! There are many ways we can improve young people’s health. All you need to do is look at the evidence.

What is the impact of mobile on fashion?

We all know that mobile phones are becoming more powerful and versatile every year. Today they can take photos, play music, record videos and even surf the internet. It is no surprise that mobile phones are being used to check out outfits.

They can be used to measure the fit of a dress before you buy it. Some people also use them for taking photos in front of mirrors.

So if you're thinking about buying a new outfit, don't forget to snap a picture with your phone!

How will consumer habits change after COVID-19?

We all know that people are buying less right now. This doesn't mean people won't want money to spend on themselves in future.

Shopping is a fun activity, so now is a good time for you to go shopping. You may even find yourself enjoying shopping more than ever before.

Although there are less people in malls, you still have many options. Just remember to stay safe and follow social distancing guidelines.

Also, remember to wash your hands regularly. That simple step can help prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Now that you've seen some trends shaping retail's future, let's take a closer look at what's happening.
